IT Services segment (IBS IT services)

Gazprom Transgaz Moscow

Gazprom Transgaz Moscow is one of Gazprom’s largest gas transportation subsidiaries, delivering c. 270bcm of gas per annum through a 21,000km transportation system, unparalleled in length. Gazprom Transgaz Moscow supplies gas to Moscow, the Moscow region and another 12 Russian regions, as well as transits gas to customers abroad.

The management of Gazprom Transgaz Moscow engaged IBS in light of serious challenges in complying with uniform business and tax accounting standards, as well as the preparation of financial statements. The situation carried significant risks, which contributed to higher costs, as the company operates 25 business units and is integrated with global processes within Gazprom.

IBS specialists carefully reviewed existing systems and embarked on a project to introduce a centralised automated business and tax accounting system for the company. Not only did the IBS team develop a universal accounting methodology for Gazprom Transgaz Moscow, but it also implemented the necessary information systems. The company’s head office and all of its business units were equipped with a specialised IBS Finance solution, developed by IBS on the basis of the 1ะก: Enterprise 8 platform. The IBS-developed information system provided a centralised accounting framework and data integration across all divisions and governance levels. The project proved a major milestone in many years of fruitful cooperation between Gazprom, its subsidiaries, and IBS.

RUSNANO

RUSNANO is charged with implementing the Russian government's policy to develop the nanotechnology industry through co-investment in projects with substantial economic potential or social benefits. In 2011, the company relocated to a new office, where all the necessary IT and engineering infrastructure would be installed on site, providing over 500 employees with the most advanced information services and communication tools.

Upon receiving a mandate for the project, IBS specialists implemented the engineering network infrastructure in the building. A high-performance LAN was geared to support IP telephony services, cable and wireless access to local and web resources and client information systems. The project included a LAN roll-out from scratch, including the installation of a structured wiring system and wireless network segment, the supply and fine-tuning of all necessary telecommunications equipment, as well as the installation of a power supply system for user workstations.

As a part of the project, IBS specialists also built the engineering infrastructure for RUSNANO’s data processing centre (DPC). As a result, the DPC was equipped with a power supply system, including secured power supply based on diesel generator plants, air conditioning systems, and DPC performance control and monitoring systems. They also provided CCTV, an automated gas fire-fighting system, DPC control and management systems.

IBS also ensured the migration of IT infrastructure from the existing office to the new one as well as provided RUSNANO with engineering and telecommunications equipment greatly enhancing its existing IT infrastructure.

The project made the most advanced IT infrastructure available to RUSNANO, whose employees can now access all necessary information and communication services, thus contributing to higher comfort and performance.

Sportmaster

Our client, Sportmaster Group, is a leading sports retailer in Russia and the CIS. The company manages the Sportmaster retail chain (over 230 outlets with the same brand name) and the Ostin retail chain (over 330 outlets) with over 80 mln. visitors annually.

In 1996, IBS specialists successfully implemented the IBM Cognos Planning solution at Sportmaster Group, significantly increasing budgeting efficiency. However, the Group has rapidly progressed since then, with sales volume growing, the size of the retail chain almost tripling, the number of representative offices abroad rising, and business areas expanding. Such rapid growth rendered the existing budgeting system inconsistent with current business requirements, since data flow restrictions, low recalculation speed, and obsolete technology greatly limited the efficiency of the budgeting model.

In 2011 our specialists developed and then implemented a programme for high-speed modernisation of the existing budgeting methodology and migration to a new solution consistent with the client’s continuously changing and ever-challenging business requirements. We elected to use the IBM Cognos TM1 solution, which met all the client's requirements and was best suited for the continuity of operations in the existing company model.

The budgeting system implemented by our specialists allowed for much faster budget consolidation. Moreover, greater functionality coupled with a familiar user interface allowed employees to quickly and easily adopt the new system. With data flow restrictions removed, there are now new opportunities for the further enhancement of planning and reporting business processes. Our work made it possible to generate detailed reports in real time across all budget items and operations, thus improving the quality of management decisions.
